1) What is CO -FI real time integration in ECC 6 ?

Ans: Any postings happening within CO which involves Cross profit center, cross business areas, cross company code, cross functional area due to allocations need to reflect in FI as well. Before ECC 6 this was achieved through Reconciliation Ledger. In ECC 6 Reconciliation ledgder is no longer needed instead the posting happen real time from CO to FI as FI entries.

2) In S/4 HANA or Simple finance do we need to configure CO-FI real time integration ?

Ans: In S/4 HANA we do not need to configure CO-FI real time integration. The reason being the cost elements (Primary or Secondary) are created now in FI as GL accounts. Thus any postings happening in CO such as allocation or activity allocation are automatically reflected as FI entries in the FI module. Thus in S/4 HANA no configuration is required for CO-FI real time integration. This is another simplification step achieved by S/4 HANA

Simple Finance explained in simple words:-

Simple Finance now called as SAP S/4 HANA is the generation next business suite.
SAP S/4 HANA is an abbreviation for SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA. It is a new product of SAP built on advance in memory platform (SAP HANA) and with a new design. SAP has done great simplifications and innovations to help businesses run in a simple manner in this complex and ever changing environment.

Platform on which S/4 HANA runs:-

It runs on HANA platform. The full form of HANA is “SAP High Performance Analytical Appliance’. SAP HANA is an in-memory, column oriented, relational database management system developed by SAP.

SAP S/4 HANA different than traditional SAP:-
Data was earlier stored as rows which slowed down performance, but with SAP S/4 HANA data is stored in both rows and columns which has greatly improved performance.
Traditionally SAP was performing lot of processing in the application layer which was slowing down performance. With SAP S/4 HANA all of the processing has now been removed from the application layer, thus reducing processing time and improving performance. All further developments are no longer done in ABAP.

Users experience in SAP S/4 HANA:-

User experience has been enhanced through SAP FIORI user experience. By using SAP FIORI, user screen can be customized differently, to look different on different applications. On mobile, a custom app can be built to provide approvals or a report to seek information  in SAP.

GL Master Data maintenance is now simplified and unified in S/4 HANA.
Functionalities which were only available in COPA are now available in New GL now.
SAP has now done away with the boring batch input sessions to be executed; all posting updates are online now.

BI and integrated planning is now embedded in S/4 HANA

Cash management in Simple Finance  is now Netweaver based.

The Bank account id set up is no longer done in SAP but rather done in SAP Netweaver

House banks are now directly maintainable in SAP Easy Access Menu in Simple Finance .

New Asset Accounting (New AA) is now the default solution in Simple Finance. Classic Asset Accounting can no longer be used.

New Asset Accounting is more powerful and has more functionality compared to Classic Asset Accounting.

New transaction codes have been introduced in New AA to handle capitalization of Assets.

Few transaction codes in New AA have now become redundant.

Account based Profitability Analysis is now the default solution in Simple Finance.
