1) What is CO -FI real time integration in ECC 6 ?

Ans: Any postings happening within CO which involves Cross profit center, cross business areas, cross company code, cross functional area due to allocations need to reflect in FI as well. Before ECC 6 this was achieved through Reconciliation Ledger. In ECC 6 Reconciliation ledgder is no longer needed instead the posting happen real time from CO to FI as FI entries.
The configuration is done in the following menu path:-

2) In S/4 HANA or Simple finance do we need to configure CO-FI real time integration ?

Ans: In S/4 HANA we do not need to configure CO-FI real time integration. The reason being the cost elements (Primary or Secondary) are created now in FI as GL accounts. Thus any postings happening in CO such as allocation or activity allocation are automatically reflected as FI entries in the FI module. Thus in S/4 HANA no configuration is required for CO-FI real time integration. This is another simplification step achieved by S/4 HANA
